සිරස රූපවාහිනී නාලිකාවේ විකාශන බලපත්‍රය අත්හිටුවීමේ සැලසුමක් ඇති බව විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතා පවසයි.
ඒ මහතා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ දී කියා සිටියේ රජයේ ඉහළ නිලධාරීන් සහ නීතිඥයන් කැඳවමින් මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් සැලසුමක් සකස් කරමින් ඇති බවයි.
මාධ්‍ය කරණයේ ඉතා පුළුල් ලෙස මුළු රටේ ගැටළු පිළිබඳ ආවරණය කරනු ලබන එකම නාලිකාව මේ ආකාරයේ තහනම් කිරීමට දැඩි ලෙස හෙලා දකින බව හෙතෙම පැවසිය. කෙසේ වෙතත් ආණ්ඩුව පාර්ශවයෙන් මේ සඳහා පිළිතුරක් ලබා දීම අවශ්‍ය බව විපක්ෂනායකවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.
එයට පිළිතුර ලබා දෙමින් අමාත්‍ය බන්දුල ගුණවර්ධන මහතා කියා සිටියේ එවැනි කිසිදු ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයක් මේ මොහොතේ සිදුනොවන බවයි. එසේම කිසිදු මාධ්‍ය ආයතනයට එරෙහිව මර්දනකාරී ක්‍රියාවක් වත්මන් රජය සිදු නොකරන බවද අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that there is a plan to suspend the broadcasting license of Sirasa TV. He said in Parliament that a plan was being drawn up in this regard by summoning senior government officials and lawyers.
He said he strongly condemned the ban on this type of channel, which covers a wide range of issues in the media. However, the Leader of the Opposition stressed that the government needs to provide an answer to this question.
Replying to this Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that no such action is being taken at this moment. He also said that the present government would not take any repressive action against any media institution.
