ත්‍රිකුණාමලය, නිලාවේලි අටේ කණුව ප්‍රදේශයේ ඊයේ (24) නාවික හමුදාව, නිලාවේලි පොලිසිය විසින් සිදු කල විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමකදී වාණිජ පුපුරණ ද්‍රව්‍ය සමඟ සැකකරුවෙක් නිලාවේලීදී හමුදා අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.
නැගෙනහිර නාවික විධානයට අයත් ශ්‍රි ලංකා නාවික නෞකා විජයබා ආයතනය සහ නිලාවේලි පොලිසිය එක්ව මෙම විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමේදී, සැකකටයුතු ත්‍රීරෝද රථයක් පරික්‍ෂාවට ලක්කරන ලදී.
ඒ අනුව එම ත්‍රීරෝද රථයේ නීතී විරෝධී ලෙස ප්‍රවාහනය කරමින් තිබූ වොටර් ජෙල් නැමැති වාණිජ පුපුරණ ද්‍රව්‍ය කූරූ විසි හතක් (27), විදුලි නොවන ඩෙටනේටර් පන්සියයක් (500) සමඟ එම ත්‍රීරෝද රථය සහ සැකකරුවෙකු (01) මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
පවත්නා සෞඛ්‍ය මාර්ගෝපදේශයන්ට අනුකුලව සිදු කළ මෙම මෙහෙයුම මඟින් අත්අඩංගුවටගත් සැකකරු වයස අවුරුදු 28ක් වන නිලාවේලි ප්‍රදේශයේ පදිංචිකරුවෙකු බවට හඳුනාගන්නා ලද අතර, අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් වෝටර් ජෙල් නැමැති වාණිජ පුපුරණ ද්‍රව්‍ය, විදුලි නොවන ඩෙටනේටර් ප්‍රමාණය, ත්‍රිරෝද රථය සහ සැකකරු ඉදිරි නීතීමය කටයුතු සඳහා නිලාවේලි පොලීසිය වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
A suspect nabbed in Nilaveli for illegal transportation of commercial explosives
A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Nilaveli Police made way to the apprehension of a suspect with a cache of explosives, at 08th Mile Post in Nilaveli on 24th September 2021. The apprehension was made while suspect was illegally transporting the explosive items among which were; 27 water gel sticks – a type of commercial explosive and 500 non-electric detonators.
During a coordinated search conducted by SLNS Vijayaba in the Eastern Naval Command with the Nilaveli Police in the evening of 24th September at 08th Mile Post, the items were held while they being transferred by a three-wheeler. Incidentally, the suspect involved in this illegal act together with 27 water gel sticks, 500 non-electric detonators and the three-wheeler was taken into custody.
The operation was conducted in accordance with COVID-19 protocols to prevent the pandemic transmission. The suspect nabbed in this operation is a resident of Nilaveli, aged 28. Meanwhile, the suspect along with explosive items and the three wheeler was handed over to the Nilaveli Police for onward legal action.
