කල්පිටිය කීරිමුන්දලම වෙරළාශ්රිත ප්රදේශයේ සිදුකළ විශේෂ සෝදිසි මෙහෙයුමක් මඟින් මුහුදු මාර්ගයෙන් නීතී විරෝධි ලෙස රට තුලට රැගෙන ඒමට උත්සාහ කළ බවට සැකකෙරෙන බීඩි කොළ (Kendu Leaves) කිලෝග්රෑම් 1680 ක පමණ තොගයක් ශ්රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාව විසින් ඊයේ (01) රාත්රියේදී අත් අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.
එහිදී ජාවාරම්කරුවන් විසින් නීති විරෝධී ලෙස මුහුදු මාර්ග ඔස්සේ රැගෙනවිත් රට තුලට ප්රවාහනය කිරීමේ අරමුණින් සඟවා තිබූ බවට සැකකෙරෙන උර 64 ක අසුරන ලද බීඩි නිශ්පාදනයට යොදා ගන්නා කොළ (Kendu Leaves) කිලෝග්රෑම් 1680 ක පමණ තොගයක් මාළු වාඩියක් තුල සඟවා තිබීයදී අත් අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
මෙම මෙහෙයුමේදී නාවික හමුදා භාරයට ගන්නා ලද බීඩි කොළ තොගය ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා කල්පිටිය පොලිස්ථානය වෙත භාරදීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
Navy seizes smuggled stock of Kendu Leaves in Kalpitiya
Sri Lanka Navy seized about 1680kg of Kendu Leaves, suspected to be attempting to smuggle by sea routes, during a special operation mounted in the beach area of Keerimundalama in Kalpitiya on the night of 01st July 2022.
In order to suppress the illegal activities stemming from the sea routes, the Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular operations in the coastal areas of the island. In a similar operation conducted by the SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command with the assistance of Kalpitiya Police the recovery was made in Keerimundalama beach area on 01st July. As such, the raiding party manage to seize about 1680kg of Kendu Leaves, used for tobacco products. The smuggled stock was found in 64 sacks and it is suspected that the consignment hidden in a fishing hut, has been stashed there to be distributed later.
The seized stock of Kendu Leaves in this operation was handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for onward legal proceedings.
