කඩොලාන පැළ රෝපණය කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන නාවික හමුදාව මඟින් ක්‍රියාවට නංවයි
කඩොලාන පැළ දහසක් රෝපණය කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනක් ඊයේ (26) දින ලංකාපටුන උල්ලුක්කලෙයි කලපු ප්‍රදේශයේදී නාවික හමුදාව විසින් සිදු කෙරිණි.
නාවික හමුදාධිපති වයිස් අද්මිරාල් ප්‍රියන්ත පෙරේරා ගේ උපදෙස් හා මඟ පෙන්වීම යටතේ ක්‍රියාත්මක වන නාවික හමුදා කඩොලාන සංරක්ෂණ ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ සෑම නාවික විධානයක්ම ආවරණය වන පරිදි ගංඟා, මෝය හා කලපු ප්‍රදේශ ආශ්‍රිතව නාවික හමුදාව විසින් කඩොලාන රෝපණය කිරීම සිදුකරනු ලබයි.
වෙරළාශ්‍රිත පරිසර පද්ධතියේ ජෛව විවිධත්වය සුරුකීම සඳහා කඩොලාන පරිසරය විශාල දායකත්වයක් දක්වයි.
මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා නාවික අණභාර නිලධාරී (ත්‍රීකුණාමලය දකුණ) කොමදෝරු අසංග රතුගමගේ ඇතුළු නැගෙනහිර නාවික විධානයට අයත් ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ හා කණිෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන් හා නාවිකයින්, රාජ්‍ය නොවන සංවිධාන හා රාජ්‍ය ආයතනයන්හි නිලධාරීන්, පාසල් ළමුන් සහ සිවිල් මහජනතාව සහභාගී වී සිටියහ.
Navy launches mangrove planting programme in Lankapatuna
Taking another significant step towards coastal conservation, the Navy launched a mangrove planting programme in the lagoon area of Ullukkalei, Lankapatuna on 26th June 2023. The event which saw planting of 1000 mangrove saplings, was held under the patronage of Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.
Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy is actively involved in planting mangroves in estuaries and lagoons as part of its ongoing mangrove conservation project across all naval commands. The recent initiative was yet another milestone of the timely project, organised by SLNS Lankapatuna in the Eastern Naval Command.
Mangroves, known as the “forests of the sea,” play a vital role in coastal ecosystems and provide habitat and breeding grounds for a wide range of marine and terrestrial species.
Naval Office in Charge (Trincomalee-South) Commodore Asanga Rathugamage, a group of senior and junior officers, sailors, officials from government and non-governmental organizations in the area, school children and local residents were present on this occasion.
